The History Of Polyester

Polyester is one of the most popular synthetic materials in the world. It is a plastic used in everyday items and a fiber used to make fabrics. Whether you know it or not, you spend your entire life with polyester. From fabrics to your own computer, polyester is everywhere in your life.

Polyester is a fabric made of plastic. It's cheap, it works, and it's convenient because it doesn't wrinkle even if you crumple it into a ball. Although not popular until the 1960s, the history of polyester is quite extensive.

Teens and college students found the double-knit polyester fabric to be cheap and uncomfortable, ultimately giving it a negative image. Despite efforts to breathe new life into its popularity, the 1970s brought an end to the polyester era and sales plummeted. However, in the 1980s, a group of designers including well-known designers such as Calvin Klein and Oscar de la Renta decided to help create a range of products made from polyester and polyester blends. This helped usher in a new dawn for polyester, whose popularity began to rise again.

Technology has now improved to the point of completely transforming polyester. Now you can find polyester microfiber that looks and feels like silk, and some designers even recycle plastic bottles into warm, comfortable, and incredibly soft wool that will last for years. Polyester isn't just used in clothing either; in fact, it's used in household items, rugs, and even sleeping bags and umbrellas.
